The Village of Homer Board of Trustees met last night at the Homer Town Hall for their first meeting in the month of September. On the agenda for tonight’s meeting included: approving the donation of an AED device to the Homer Elks Lodge, this Falls Amnesty Day, purchase of two golf carts for the Homer Fire Department and more.
A spare AED Device from the Homer Fire Department has been approved to be donated to the Homer Elks Lodge. Homer Fire Chief said the donation will benefit those at the Elks Lodge and proper training will be conducted by the fire department for use of the device.
Amnesty Day for Village of Homer Residents will be held on October 14th between the hours of 8am to 4pm. Amnesty day is only for residents of the Village at the composite site on North Fulton Street.
Items allowed will be the same as last Spring’s and include: White goods such as stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, etc., metal wastes, lumber or anything made of wood, cement blocks, and bricks.
It is also noted any item that may contain refrigerant must have a certificate of purging included. Items not allowed include: Tires, Tv’s, Microwaves, Computers, Batteries, or Garbage.
The Village of Homer Board of Trustees also approved the purchase of two pre-owned golf carts for the Homer Fire Department. Each golf cart will cost $3,000 and be purchased from a local golf course.
Reasons for the purchase of the golf cart were noted with the Village of Homer hosting numerous events that require street closures if a medical emergency were to occur, emergency officials would be able to respond faster than having to navigate a vehicle through a crowded street. The Homer Police Department and Recreation Department would also be allowed use for the golf cart and would also be able to provide assistance to those handicapped.
