Vehicle Parked on Main Street in Groton Leads to Arrest of Driver For DWI – Found Asleep Behind Wheel
New York State Troopers were dispatched to a vehicle parked on Main Street in the Village of Groton by Tompkins County 9-1-1 around 2 in the morning on Friday, November 14th. State Police say when Troopers arrived to the vehicle, which was still running, they found 69 year old Richard Sangeslang of Groton asleep behind the wheel.
Troopers were able to wake Sangeslang up and then observed characteristics associated with impairment, they say. Sangeslang was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. He was taken to the State Police Barracks in Ithaca where State Police say his reportable B.A.C. was .08%. He was processed and issued an appearance ticket to Groton Town Court next month.
