First responders were dispatched to a single vehicle crash with the vehicle ending up in the Tioughnioga River in Marathon. Both Marathon Fire and the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC) along with law enforcement were dispatched to Route 11 at the I81 South Bound Exit 39 (Old Exit 9) Monday morning.
On arrival, first responders found a vehicle floating in the river, with the driver attempting to self-extricate themselves from the vehicle. According to a press release by MAVAC, the vehicle was getting off I81 at Exit 39 when it crossed over Route 11 and into the river.
