Vehicle Complaint Leads to Driver Charged With Driving While Impaired by Drugs


Around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, March 5th, an erratic vehicle complaint was called into Cortland County 9-1-1 on a vehicle on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville. An officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and located the erratic driver.

During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle, 57 year old David M. Schilinske of the Town of Homer, was found to be driving while his ability was impaired by drugs. As officers were taking Schilinske into custody, they found drugs in his possession.

He was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th. Schilinski was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later released on appearance tickets. He is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
