On Friday, October 6th, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident that had occurred in the area of Hawley Woods Road and Mounty Roderick Road in the Town of Taylor.
An investigation conducted by officers found the operator of the vehicle, identified as 38 year old Christopher A. Leonard of North Pitcher, was operating the vehicle while suspended and to be in possession of a controlled substance. A further investigation found Leonard was also in possession of several marijuan plants that were stolen from a local business within the county.
Officers arrested and charged Leonard with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd, a Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd, both Misdemeanors.
He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office and later arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process and remanded to Cortland County Jail on no bail. He is due in Taylor Town Court next week.
