New York State Senator, Lea Webb (SD-52) has announced the beginning of her Valentine’s Day Cards for Seniors initiative, which is a community involved event to create Valentine’s Day cards for nursing home and adult care residents in the area.

“There is an immense amount of love and creativity in our community,” said Senator Lea Webb. “This project works to channel that towards our seniors, who often feel isolated, particularly around holidays. A simple act of kindness, like a handmade card, can make a significant difference. I encourage everyone in our community to participate in this act of kindness.”

The initiative is open for schools, families, and individuals to participate to create a handmade Valentine’s Day card as a sign of care and connection. The campaign’s goal is to reduce the feelings of isolation that happens to many seniors.

Those who would like to participate may mail or drop off their handmade cards by 5pm on February 6th at the following locations:

  • Senator Webb’s Binghamton Office: 44 Hawley Street, Suite 1607, Binghamton, NY 13901
  • Senator Webb’s Ithaca Office: 271 North Aurora Street, Suite 110, Ithaca, NY 14850
  • Cortland Youth Bureau: 35 Port Watson Street, Cortland, NY 13045.
