The second utility debt relief open house will be happening today from 4 to 7pm in Tompkins County at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center located at 301 W. Court Street. The open house is open to the public to attend to learn more if they may be eligible for various debt relief options and be connected to programs to reduce their energy bills.
It is being hosted by NYS Senator Lea Webb (SD-52), Assemblymember Anna Kelles (AD-125) and the Public Utility Law Project. The open house will be a workshop that will help utility customers check if they’re eligible for any type of utility bill relief programs including NYSEG Energy Affordability Program monthly bill discount, HEAP, and other financial assistance.
Residents are asked to bring the following items with them for the open house: their utility bills, a form of identification, a copy of their benefits award letter from HEAP, SNAP, SSI, or anything else (if they have one), and proof of income if not yet applied for HEAP or SNAP. There will also be free application assistance.
