US Representative Marc Molinaro (R-NY19) has announced that New York State has received over $360 million dollars in federal funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Rep. Molinaro said, “As we head into the winter months, we are ensuring that every family, regardless of their financial circumstances, can afford the basic necessity of heat. No family should ever have to choose between heating their home or putting food on the table.”
LIHEAP is administered through the US Department of Health and Human Services and is designated to assist individuals and families who are low income pay their home heating costs through the winter. LIHEAP also provides assistance in cooling bills over the summer.
The program may also be used to assist in weatherizing homes to make them more energy efficient and better protected during hazardous weather events.
