Over $3.5 million dollars in federal funds will go towards nine airports in Upstate New York, US Representative Marc Molinaro (R-NY19) has announced. The funding will go towards infrastructure improvements.
Rep. Molinaro said, “I am pleased to announce these significant investments in airports across Upstate New York. This funding will support important infrastructure improvements to ensure our local airports remain competitive and continue to meet the needs of travelers.”
The funds will be available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Funding will help airports with control tower upgrades, acquire and install air traffic control systems, improve airport communications systems, build remote towers, and update other airport infrastructure.
For Cortland County, Chase field will receive $144,000 dollars. Ithaca Tompkins International Airport will receive $1,386,641 in funding.
Other airports to receive funding in our area include the Greater Binghamton/Edwin A Link Field Airport, Tri-Cities Airport (Endicott), and Lt Warren Eaton Airport (Norwich).
