UPS Facility in Cortland to Close
The UPS Cortland Hub is set to close next month, May 16th. UPS confirmed to X101 News the closure is part of the company’s effort to optimize their US network and improve efficiencies within the company. UPS announced changes in their service network back in January of this year.
“UPS has an unwavering commitment to serving our customers around the world. As we announced in January, we are making exciting changes to optimize our network, improve efficiency and continue to deliver on our customer-first strategy. The changes underway include reassessing a small percentage of our U.S. operations. Our employees and customers remain a top priority for us during this process, and we will continue to provide industry-leading service to customers in every community we serve.” UPS US Media Relations Manager Karen Tomaszeski Hill said in an email to X101 News.
Tomaszeski says the employees at the UPS Cortland hub, which is located at 14 North Franklin Street in Cortland, are to be relocated to other UPS facilities. She continued on to say UPS understands this closure will have an impact on the employees as well as their families due to commute times to other facilities along with other contributors, but says UPS will continue to work with the affected employees throughout the closure process.
As for those looking for a UPS authorized shipping outlet, UPS says customers may go to UP Boxed at 3924 West Road. A UPS Access Point is also available at CVS on Port Watson Street along with several UPS Drop Box locations in Cortland County. More information may be found at UPS.com/dropoff.
