Update on Charges of Man Who Kidnapped Ithaca Woman Last Week

Virginia State Police have charged Michael Davis after he kidnapped 34 year old Tatiana David on April 5th, her birthday, in the City of Ithaca.



The kidnapping led to a major search for David by police, setting up checkpoints on I81 for the vehicle description originally given to police. David ended up being killed in a shootout between Davis and Virginia State Police on Interstate 95 in Fairfax County in Virginia.

Michael Davis has been charged with one count of abduction by Virginia State Police, additional charges are currently pending, including charges from New York State Police. He remains at the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries, but is in the custody of police in Prince William County.

No Virginia State Troopers were injured in the shootout and in accordance with state police policy, the troopers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
