On this morning’s final weekly COVID update with the United Way for Cortland County:
Executive Director Christella Yonta has joined us every Tuesday and Thursday for nearly 8 weeks and wrapped up the special series this morning, as the region looks forward to start gradually reopening this weekend.
Donations to the Cortland Cares COVID fund have reached $53,500, more than half which has already gone right back out to community programs and residents in need.
Every dollar has been matched by the Cortland Community Foundation.
Yonta also shared more data on what the local 2-1-1 call center is seeing with requests for assistance.
“We are a community that’s full of hand-raisers and doers,” Yonta said. “We know that if we come together, we can get through anything and be stronger on the other side. Thank you for making the matching-gift challenge a success and pushing us beyond our original $25k goal.”
