United Way of Tompkins County Announces Award & Impact Fund Recipients

United Way of Tompkins County (UWTC) announced their list of community members recognized for their contributions on Monday.

United Way takes note of positions in the community who go above and beyond for Tompkins County by taking part in UWTC activities. They account for their community campaign chair, volunteer of the year, an “unsung” hero who contributed privately, a non-profit partner, and a business who was paramount to the program’s success. The following people and organizations were recognized for their contributions:

  • 2023-24 Community Campaign Chairs: Cal Walker (Social Entrepreneur) & Alex Adelewitz
    (Wegmans of Ithaca)
  • Pat Stage Volunteer of the Year: Cal Walker
  • Lynnette Scofield Key Contributor Award: Wegmans of Ithaca
  • Unsung Hero Award: Paul Streeter (Cornell University)
  • Non-Profit Partner Engagement Award: Cornell’s Einhorn Center

Human service needs are cared for by the United Tompkins Impact Fund (UTIF), and this year, 68 recipients qualified for $525,000 in allocated funding for these programs. From July 1st, 2024 to June 30, 2025, these recipients will have access to money for safe, affordable housing, youth programs, food security, transportation services, and much more.

UWTC has several other initiatives and grant cycles, including the UW/2-1-1 ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) Program that grants up to $500 to struggling individuals and families. For a complete list of United Tompkins Impact Fund awardees, click HERE.
