United Way of Cortland County Partners With Food Bank of CNY With Launch of The Cortland Food Pantry Fundraiser
In the continuous effort to help those in need in the Cortland Community, the United Way of Cortland County (UWCC) says they’re partnering with the Food Bank of CNY with the launch of the Cortland Food Pantry Fundraiser. The fundraiser is a response, the United Way of Cortland County says, in fighting food security in the community.
The UWCC and the Food Bank of CNY both say this announcement comes as an “urgent designated fundraising campaign” to address a rapidly growing need for food assistance in the county. The UWCC says donations towards the effort will have a direct and immediate impact within the community and help strengthen the food access network.
“Our community’s food resource hubs are struggling to keep pace; at the same time, people in our community are now feeling the pressure of having to face increasing food and heat costs. We seek to intervene in these families having to choose between having to pay their heating bill and putting food on the table. This Cortland Food Pantry Fundraiser aims to provide swift, targeted support to local food access locations. We will be working with 16 local food pantries in Cortland County that have established relationships with the FBCNY.” Timothy Haskell, Community Relations & Marketing Manager for UWCC said in a release.
Funds donated will be deposited directly into Cortland County’s designated Food Bank of CNY spending account, the UWCC says. Every dollar donated will stay local. Donations may be made online at CortlandUnitedWay.org.
