United Way Holds 84th Annual Meeting and Celebration

The United Way for Cortland County held their 84th annual meeting and celebration on Thursday, May 4th at The Vault Grand Venue on the corner of Central Ave. and Main Street in the City of Cortland.




The event was to honor and thank donors and the volunteers for all the work done through the United Way programs that assist people within Cortland County over the past year. Awards were also given out to honor individuals and businesses who have enabled programs to make a difference in the community. Those awards were: The Spirit of Caring Award, The Live United Award, and The Campaign Champion Award.

This year’s winner of the Spirit of Caring Award was given to Jenny Robinson from the Cortland Child Development Center. She is considered a tireless advocate for her co-workers, the families she serves, and most of all the children in her care. “She truly epitomizes the United Way’s care values of Give, Advocate, Volunteer.” Stated in a press release from United Way.

For The Live United Award, CFCU Community Credit Union was recognized for their involvement and leadership in community building, volunteerism and philanthropy.

Finally, The Campaign Champion Award, the Cortland Eye Center was awarded. United Way named their staff that is involved in community events and volunteers their time. The Cortland Eye Center also has consistently run a campaign with their generosity over the years that directly influences the lives of countless people.
