The United Way for Cortland County’s Day of Caring that took place on Wednesday proved to be another huge success for the Cortland area. This year was the 28th annual United Way Day of Caring and throughout the month, both businesses and organizations had collection boxes for the Wendy Thilbeault Memorial Food & Supply Drive.
This year, 18 businesses and organizations took part in food collection boxes for the month and with that, 12 food programs in the county will receive the donated items to help stock their pantry’s.
Yesterday’s events had 60 volunteers from 18 different businesses helping with community projects in both Cortland and Homer. Well over 500 tulip bulbs were planted in Dexter Park, Courthouse Park, Beaudry Park, City Hall, and at the Youth Bureau Offices. Additionally, projects took place at the Salvation Army Food Pantry, Dwyer Park and the Center for the Arts in Homer.
For the Village of McGraw, 30 McGraw High School students worked on various projects throughout the village.
