Today is believed to be the first time ever in history that a sitting U.S. Secretary of Agriculture has visited Cortland County.
U.S. Agricultural Secretary Sonny Perdue was in town this morning with Rep. Claudia Tenney at the Trinity Valley Dairy Farm on Route 13 in Cortland.
The two were given a tour of the farm before sitting down for a round-table with local farmers and politicians to discuss the key issues affecting farmers in Central and Upstate New York.
Topics that were set for discussion included labor shortcomings and the falling price of milk.
Secretary Perdue and Rep. Tenney then visited another farm in Upstate NY following this morning’s meeting.
