Two rescued from state forest after getting stuck on seasonal road
Local News February 24, 2021Two individuals from Marathon and Cincinnatus had to be rescued over the weekend after their truck went off the Civilian Conservation Corps trail.
This area is part of an extensive snowmobile trail system in the Pharsalia Woods State Forest, located in Chenango County.
Forest Rangers were contacted just past 9 pm Saturday.
The pair initially tried to rescue themselves by using a winch cable to get back on the road.
However, that only jeopardize the condition of the trail further. Eventually, a team of Rangers would respond on snowmobiles.
Once found, the individuals were brought out of the woods and treated for mild hypothermia, warming up in a nearby sheriff’s vehicle.
Both were released home by just after Midnight.
