The Cayuga Medical Center has recently been recognized as a four-star hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well four-stars for patient experience.

“Patients who choose Cayuga Medical Center for care can be assured that they will receive effective care in a healing environment. These CMS scores are evidence that our team is consistently focused on patient-centered care,” stated Dr. Andreia de Lima, Vice President of Medical Affairs, Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca.

Cayuga Medical Center is currently the region’s only healthcare facility to receive four stars or better for overall and patient experience scores.

The rating summarized a variety of measures on conditions that Cayuga Medical Center treats, for example, heart attacks and pneumonia. CMS will then consider if or not a health care provider gives recommended treatments that are based on standards of care and will evaluate the outcome for all treatments that are provided.

For the Patient Survey Rating, patients who are recently discharged are asked about topics including how well nurses and doctors communicated, how responsive hospital staff were in their needs, and the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital’s environment.
