Two Ejected From Motorcycle on Route 13 in Cortlandville – State Police Say Motorcyclist Was Lane Splitting Prior to Crash

State Police say two people were ejected from a motorcycle following a crash on Route 13 near Cortlandville Crossing late Wednesday afternoon. Troopers responded to the area for a 2-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and sedan.

An investigation into the cause of the crash found a Chappy motorcycle was going southbound on Route 13 when the operator, 19 year old Jeffrey W. Thomas made an unsafe lane change, splitting the lanes between vehicles. State Police say when Thomas was unsafely passing on the left, he failed to see a Hyundai sedan making a left turn into the parking lot which caused the car and motorcycle to sideswipe.

After colliding with the car both Thomas and a passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 27 year old Thomas Allbright, were ejected from the motorcycle. The driver of the sedan, 31 year old Brandon G. Slack was not injured.

Both Thomas and Allbright were taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Thomas was ticketed as a result of the crash.
