Two Die in House Fire in Town of Locke

Around 9am on Monday, April 24th, emergency personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 166 Canaan Heights Road in the Town of Locke.




The structure, a residence, was fully engulfed in flames as emergency personnel arrived. Two people were found dead at the scene of the fire.

Fire Departments from Locke, Freeville, McLean, Lansing, Moravia, Genoa, Fleming, and Ithaca Airport responded to the scene to battle the flames. Also assisting at the scene was Four Town Ambulance, and the Cayuga County Department of Emergency Response.

State Police and members from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation also responded to the scene to investigate the two deaths. The names of the two deceased will be released when next of kin have been notified state police stated. Troopers are working with State Fire to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.

Firefighters were on scene for nearly 4 and a half hours.
