Two Charged With Resisting Arrest Following Domestic Incident in Marathon
State Police say troopers were dispatched to a residence on West Main Street in the Village of Marathon on Thursday, February 12 around 2:30 in the afternoon. Police say a woman contacted Cortland County 9-1-1 to report a domestic incident. When troopers arrived, the victim told them she no longer needed assistance.
However, due to the nature of the call being a domestic incident, troopers investigated. Their investigation determined the victim originally requested 23 year old Isaac D. Faircloth to be moved. State Police say troopers also learned Faircloth had an active warrant out for his arrest by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Troopers found Faircloth attempting to flee from the residence upon the discovery. Police say when they attempted to make contact with Faircloth, the victim in the incident put herself in front of troopers, which slowed their response and interfered with their attempt to take Faircloth into custody.
As a result, Troopers arrested 19 year old Jayden-Lyn Rose Stevens of Marathon. She was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest, both Misdemeanors. She was transported to SP Marathon for processing and later transported to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
Troopers engaged in a foot pursuit of Faircloth. He was briefly able to lose sight of police after gaining distance, but was located after troopers received information he was hiding in a detached garage on Front Street. Faircloth would again try to flee on foot, but was taken into custody.
Faircloth faces charges of Criminal Trespass in the 3rd, Criminal Mischief in the 4th, and Resisting Arrest, all Misdemeanors. He was transported to SP Homer for processing and turned over to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
