On Sunday, May 7th, Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Speedway at 3798 US Route 11, Polkville (Town of Cortlandville) for a report of a male who had stolen merchandise from the store.
The suspect, later identified as 42 year old Jason Hyde, was located still on the property of the gas station in a vehicle. Officers also found 37 year old Nichole Gibson and another male, not identified, in the vehicle Hyde was in.
As officers continued their investigation, it was found both Hyde and Gibson were in possession of Meth, Fentanyl, and Cocaine. Officers arrested both and charged them with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th, both Felonies.
Hyde was additionally charged with Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor for the stolen merchandise.
They were transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and arraignment. Both were later arraigned and due to New York State Bail Reform, Nichole Gibson was released on her own recognizance. Jason Hyde, though, was remanded to Cortland County Jail on no bail.
Both Hyde and Gibson are due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
