Two Arrested for Drug Possession After Traffic Stop in City

Just after 4 in the afternoon on Saturday, April 27th a traffic stop was conducted for a traffic violation on Port Watson Street in the City of Cortland by an officer with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.


During the stop, officers learned the driver, 34 year old Joshua M. Strauf of Cortland, was operating the vehicle while his license was suspended. Further investigation by officers found the passenger of the vehicle, 32 year old Natasha R. Kinney of Cortland, was in possession of drugs.

Both Strauf and Kinney were arrested by officers at the scene. Strauf is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd, both Misdemeanors, and multiple traffic infractions. Kinney is facing a charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, a Misdemeanor.

Both were taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and both were later released with appearance tickets. They are due in Cortland City Court in mid May.
