Tully Central Schools Names New Superintendent
The Tully Central School District’s School Board has named Andy Buchsbaum as the district’s next superintendent. Tully Schools says Buchsbaum will bring with him over two decades of experience as a teacher, coach, athletic director, health and physical education coordinator, and administrator through multiple roles in public schools within the State and Connecticut.
Most recently, Buchsbaum served as Superintendent of Marathon Central Schools and is the founder of the consulting business, Level UP Leadership. He was appointed the Superintendent of Marathon Schools back in November 2022.
Board of Education President, Edward Wortley II, noted in the release his and fellow board members excitement on the appointment of Buchsbaum.
“We all agreed that Andy’s extensive leadership experience will help strengthen the school community and support all students and staff in reaching their full potential.” Wortley said in a release. “He also stood out as a great fit for our community. We’re looking forward to working with him to build a strong, positive future for the district.”
Buchsbaum will begin his role as Superintendent for Tully Central Schools in early February. He will oversee the district that consists of 75 teachers, 21 teaching assistants and 734 students in grades UPK-12. He will replace interim superintendent Todd Freeman, who previously retired as Superintendent of Cincinnatus Schools and lead Tully Schools after the departure of Darcy Woodcock.
The Tully Board of Education says they worked closely with OCM BOCES District Superintendent Matt Cook during the search of a superintendent. The process included consulting district stakeholder groups that included instructional and non-instructional staff, administrators, families and caregivers, community representatives, and students.
