Truck overturns in Homer after entangling in power lines

Local News

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a dump truck rollover yesterday morning near the intersection of Route 11 and Frederick Avenue in Homer, which resulted in no injuries or citations.

Investigators say 43-year-old Richard D. Carter Jr., of Cortland, was attempting to make a left hand-turn in a 1999 International dump truck when the attached boom caught power lines hanging overhead and became entangled.

That caused the truck to rollover.

Carter was not injured in the accident and police did not issue him any citations.

Assisting with the investigation were members of the Homer Police Department.

The NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also responded and helped set the vehicle upright and remove it from the roadway.
