Troopers Arrest Syracuse Man After Police Chase in Lansing – Two Children Found in Car
On Saturday evening, around 6pm on August 31st, a New York State Trooper patrolling on Peruville Road in Lansing witnessed a vehicle speeding. The Trooper then attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the speeding vehicle, but the vehicle failed to comply.
State Police say the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 23 year old Jusa K. Haygood of Syracuse, continued to accelerate his speed away from the Trooper and continued to make numerous vehicle and traffic violations as he attempted to evade State Police.
Haygood eventually pulled into an apartment complex located on Robins Way. Troopers were then able to take Haywood into custody. During a search of the vehicle, State Police found two children in the backseat, ages 2 and 7 years old.
Both children were turned over to a family member. Haywood was taken to SP Ithaca for processing and was later issued appearance tickets to Lansing Town Court. He is due in court next month.
