Troopers Arrest Drunk Driver on I81 – Found With an Illegally Modified Loaded Handgun in Vehicle


Back on May 5th just after 1 in the morning, State Police at Homer responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway on Interstate 81 in the Town of Homer. State Police told X101 News on arrival they found the driver, 30 year old Nathan Alex Williams of Ithaca, slumped over the steering wheel while the vehicle was running.

After an investigation conducted by Troopers, which also included a field sobriety test that Williams reportedly did poorly on, he was arrested. State Police also said they additionally located an illegally modified loaded handgun inside the vehicle. Williams does not possess a valid pistol permit.

Williams was evaluated at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for any possible injuries from the result of the vehicle going off the roadway. Once cleared, he was processed and turned over to Central Arraignment and Processing at the Cortland County Jail.

He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd, a Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th, and Unlawful Possession of Certain ammunition feeding devices, and DWI, all Misdemeanors.
