The Homer Village Board met Wednesday night and updated residents on the return to the Town Hall, reporting that the setup continues – such as computers, phones, and the internet.
In other action, Mayor Hal McCabe led the discussion of the urban forest in the village. The village removed a few trees this summer and has identified a small number that still should come down.
The Board last night voted to begin replacing the trees.
“What we wanted to do was start on that, move some money so that we can make a dent in it because we were looking at needing to ant 60-70 trees in the village,” said Mayor McCabe. “So, this is a start at 20.”
Several different types of trees will be planted this year and the board plans to continue the replanting next year.
You have trees and you get leaves.
The village DPW is collecting leaves raked to the edge of lawns. No more north and south of James Street. Pickup crews will be around the village.
The DPW’s Mike Harter also reminds residents the trash haulers won’t pick up items such as TVs. The Mayor says the village policy is if the DPW has to remove this stuff, the homeowner will be sent a warning first, then a bill.
