Tree Removal After Storm That Hit Homer Two Weeks Ago Totaled $21,000
The Village of Homer Board of Trustees met last night at the Homer Town Hall for their second meeting in the month of July. During the meeting the board discussed the storm that hit the Village of Homer back on Wednesday, July 10th.

The storm caused significant damage to the Village of Homer and left some residents without power for nearly 22 hours. The village also suffered from numerous downed trees as a result of the strong winds. Tree removal ended up costing the village $21,000 and more tree removal still needs to be done along the Tioughnioga River. Homer Department of Public Works (DPW) Superintendent Phil Stockton says the DPW is still working on the removal of blockages underneath bridges and says there is about 17 trees that still need to be removed that are down along the river or over the river.
The Village of Homer is working with both the County and State for additional funds. The village has already submitted around $15,800 in damages in addition to the $21,000 in tree removal. New York State is still accessing the damage within Cortland County.
