TravelandLeisure.com is calling Cortland the “Gem in New York’s Finger Lakes” in a recent online article published online. The website noted Cortland’s proximity to ski resorts, golf courses, lakes, and affordable real estate is what draws people to Cortland.
Cortland was recently named number 1 by Realtor.com in the most affordable small towns in America with home prices in Cortland a third of the national median.
“The town is just big enough where you can have your privacy but small enough that you still know your neighbors. We have a lot of land and nice little neighborhoods here, but there are tons of leisure activities and community events that residents can enjoy year-round,” Dana Decker, owner and broker at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Heritage Realty and a Cortland native, told Travel + Leisure.
The article continued on the year-round list of events and festivals the city holds each year including the Main Street Music Series, and the The Great Cortland Pumpkinfest. Travel and Leisure noted Cortland’s main draw is nature and sports enthusiasts. Cortland is 15 minutes away from Greek Peak, Labrador Mountain, and Song Mountain Ski Resorts.
“Cortland is a bedroom community for Ithaca, Syracuse, and Binghamton, so residents might work in one of those cities, yet prefer to live in Cortland, so they can get away from work while still having an easy commute,” Dana continued in the article.
