Authorities say 37-year-old Lawrence Faucett, of Ulster, Pennsylvania, was travelling along Route 17 in the town of Nichols on March 13, when he veered his tractor trailer into the shoulder just before 10 am and hit a parked advance warning vehicle,

The crash killed 45-year-old Dennis “Matt” Howe, a state DOT worker from Candor.

He was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries several days later.

An investigation determined Howe’s vehicle was parked with several flashing lights alerting drivers of an upcoming repair crew working on the highway.

Faucett was convicted Friday in Tioga County Court for failure to obey the State’s “Move Over Law.”

Governor Cuomo has since dedicated the part of the highway where the crash occurred as the Dennis “Matt” Howe Memorial Highway.
