Traffic Stop on Route 281 Leads to Arrest of Drunk Driver

Around 5:45 pm on Saturday, November 4th, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 281 in the Town of Homer by officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for a vehicle with multiple traffic infractions.

An investigation by the officer found the operator of the vehicle, 35 year old Daniel P. Keith of Preble, was intoxicated and also found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license due to a previous alcohol conviction.

Officers arrested and charged Keith with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st, a Felony, DWI, Driving with .08% of 1% or more of Alcohol, Operating while Registration Suspended, all Misdemeanors, along with numerous traffic violations.

Keith was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later released on uniform traffic tickets. He is due to appear in Homer Town Court later this month.
