Traffic Stop on Route 281 Finds Drug Paraphernalia – Driver Arrested For Impaired Driving
State Police say a trooper on patrol along West Road (Route 281) in Cortlandville on Wednesday night observed a vehicle committing traffic violations and initiated a stop.
During the stop, troopers identified the driver as 20-year-old Sean Bay McCorkle of Jamaica, New York. According to police, McCorkle showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which indicated he was impaired.
Troopers then arrested McCorkle for driving while impaired.
Police say a search of the vehicle also uncovered multiple plastic baggies containing marijuana, as well as a digital scale.
McCorkle was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. He was taken to the State Police barracks in Homer for processing and later transferred to the Cortland County Jail for centralized arraignment.
