Traffic Stop on I81 For Speeding Vehicle in Cortlandville Leads to Drug Bust
Around 3:20 in the afternoon on Thursday, July 10th, a State Trooper conducted a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle on I81 in the Town of Cortlandville. During the traffic stop, Troopers interviewed the driver, identified as 30 year old Eugenio Matos Pizarro of Syracuse. Pizarro was the only occupant in the vehicle.
It was during this interview that Pizarro provided Troopers with inconsistent answers to basic questions. Troopers were able to gain consent to search the vehicle during a further investigation with Pizarro. Inside the vehicle, State Police say Troopers found a large sum of cash, a prescription bottle with no label containing multiple pills; the pills were later identified as Oxycodone. They also found a package with what State Police say appeared to be multiple puzzle magazines.
A search of the magazines led to Troopers finding over a 100 blister packages containing Xanax taped to the pages inside the magazine. Troopers arrested Pizarro and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th, a Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, a Misdemeanor.

He was taken to the State Police Barracks in Homer for processing and later taken to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
