Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Unlicensed Driver – Found With Various Drugs

Just before 1 in the afternoon on Friday, June 21st, a traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle traveling on North Main Street in the City of Cortland by an officer with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

During the stop, it was determined the driver of the vehicle, 32 year old David W. Towers, who is listed as homeless, had a suspended drivers license. A continued investigation also found Towers to be in possession of two different kinds of controlled substances.

Officers arrested and charge Towers with 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the 3rd, both Misdemeanors, and numerous traffic violations.

He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later released on an appearance ticket. Towers is due in Cortland City Court next month.
