Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Driver High on Drugs

Just before 2:30 in the morning on Saturday, August 24th, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle on Route 281 in Cortlandville by an officer with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle was in violation of a traffic law.

During the investigation with the driver, 25 year old Dwight L. Thomas II of Arcadia Louisiana, officers determined he was driving while impaired by drugs. Thomas was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a Misdemeanor, and numerous traffic violations. Thomas was also charged with Open Container.

He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later released on appearance tickets. Thomas is due in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
