Tracking Mallards To Aid Their Survival

Over the next four years, a thousand ducks will fly with GPS transmitters to track their habitats, breeding and survival.

Researchers want to know why mallard numbers are dropping here.

The effort begins this winter with 300 hen mallards when they head back north.

The NYSDEC, Ducks Unlimited and 20 other agencies are in on the project.
