On December 14th the Cortland County Sheriff’s department responded to a vehicle complaint on State Route 13 near the county line of Cortland and Tompkins.
Officers located the vehicle in the Lowes parking lot in Cortlandville.
After an investigation the Sheriff’s department determined the passenger of the vehicle had an order of protection against the operator.
Caleb Chaires of the town of Dryden was arrested and taken to the Cortland County Jail to be arraigned.
He faces charges of Aggravated Family Offense, a class E Felony and Criminal Contempt 2nd degree, a class A Misdemeanor.
Chaires was released on his own recognizance through the Centralized Arraignment Process and is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Court on January 5th.
