The City of Cortland and Village of Homer are taking part in No-Mow-May, and now the Town of Cortlandville is letting residents know they can take part in the month-long event too.

No Mow May is designated to help pollinators as they emerge from hibernation during the winter. This time during the year food is scarce and residential yards can be a helpful stopgap nectar source for pollinators if they are left to grow naturally.

Lawn mowing by residents or businesses removes many flowers of violets, dandelions and other types of flowering plants, which can lead to food sources for pollinators slim.
