Town of Cortlandville Sets Public Hearing Date For Proposed Battery Energy Storage Moratorium
The Cortlandville Town Board looks to impose another moratorium, this time for battery energy storage systems which the town has seen included in numerous proposed solar field projects recently. The proposed local law for this moratorium would also be a period of 6-months with the town having an option to further extend the moratorium.
During Wednesday’s Town Board meeting, the board voted unanimously to send the proposed local law draft to the Cortland County Planning Department for their review and recommendations. The board also voted, on advice of Keegan Coughlin, of Coughlin and Gerhart, who the town hired to assist with the implementation of the solar project moratorium and now the proposed battery energy storage moratorium, of a public hearing date.
The public hearing on the proposed local law of a 6-month moratorium for battery energy storage systems within the Town of Cortlandville will take place on Wednesday, November 5th at 5pm at the Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building.
The full proposed local law on the moratorium may be found HERE.
