Town of Cortlandville Participating in No Mow May – Residents Must Opt in

The Town of Cortlandville has announced they will once again participate in No Mow May. Residents are asked to opt into the program by contacting the Town Offices at (607) 756-6091 during normal business hours. During No Mow May, the Town of Cortlandville’s Code Enforcement Office will not enforce the town’s grass ordinance for the month of May.

No Mow May is considered a popular movement which numerous municipalities now participate in each year. During the month, people are encouraged to refrain from mowing their lawns throughout the month to support pollinators, specifically bees. Letting lawns grow out allows the growth of dandelions, clover, and violets to bloom. These plants provide food and also shelter for bees and other pollinators during the early foraging season.
