Tompkins County Sheriff’s office and the Ithaca Police Department captured the escaped jail inmate yesterday afternoon.
Jeffrey Cornell, age 37, was on the lam for under 24 hours.
Yesterday at about 11:47am , members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and Ithaca Police Department responded to the area of W. State Street in the City of Ithaca for a related siting of the missing inmate.
He was taken into custody without incident around 1:10 pm.
as serving a sentence in jail for DWI, with additional charges pending. He had charges pending at the time of his escape. They are Criminal Mischief, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, and Assault.
He’s now also being charged with escape.
