Tompkins County Whole Health Celebrating National Immunization Awareness Month
Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) announced on Thursday that they are joining America in celebrating National Immunization Awareness Month for the duration of August.
Vaccines protect us from diseases and help to reduce the severity of a plethora of other illnesses. This August, TCWH is using this as an opportunity to remind the community to stay up to date on their immunizations. The county also encourages everyone to talk to their healthcare provider to make sure their records are up to date, as some are annual.
In addition, TWCH is reminding parents to keep their children routinely immunized, especially as the 2024-2025 school year approaches; all children must be up to date on their vaccinations to attend school in New York State unless medically exempt. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) state that on-time immunization is critical to protect children from life-threatening diseases and sicknesses.
