Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Phone Scam

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of an ongoing scam phone call being reported of someone claiming to be Sheriff Derek Osborne. The Sheriff’s Office says the caller will claim the person has an outstanding ticket or has missed jury duty.

The caller will then attempt to solicit money as a result. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office says their office will make contact with someone who may have an outstanding warrant, but will never solicit payment over the phone.
