Tompkins County Sheriff Responds to Incident at Triphammer Marketplace

Around 4:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 27th, officers from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and Cayuga Heights Police Department responded to Triphammer Marketplace in Lansing for a reported disturbance.

A call came of two individuals who frequented a laundromat at the shopping center, had gotten into a verbal altercation which resulted in one of them deploying pepper spray on the other. The Sheriff’s Office says though it is believed that it was bear repellent used.

Both of the individuals left the scene before officers arrived. Their identities at this time are unknown. Due to the contamination, multiple businesses were forced to close.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the two involved, to call the Sheriff’s Office at 607-257-1345.
