Back on Sunday, March 5th, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Town of Lansing for a reported cardiac arrest.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased male inside the residence. The deceased was identified as 71 year old Joseph F. West of Ithaca. The death was reported as an unattended death meaning someone was found dead, and there were no witnesses.
Through a continued investigation and analysis of evidence collected by investigators, the death is now being investigated as suspicious. Assisting the Sheriff in the investigation is the New York State Police, Ithaca City Police, the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office and the Tompkins Medical Examiner’s Office.
The investigation is currently ongoing and officials will provide updates when available.
