Tompkins County Residents Injured in Fatal Newfield Crash Remain in Critical Condition

Two Tompkins County residents injured in a fatal crash on Route 13 in Newfield late last week remained in critical condition yesterday.

46-year-old Gary Macrabie of Newfield and 53-year-old Sharon Darlow of Ithaca remain listed in critical condition as of Sunday morning at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

They were injured in a two-car, head-on crash Wednesday on state Route 13 in Newfield, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Tracey Snyder, 31, of Newfield was killed in the collision, which occurred north of Millard Hill Road. She died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Snyder was driving a 2013 Ford Focus southbound on Route 13. The vehicle changed lanes, clipping the front of another car. The Focus continued into the northbound lane, sideswiping a pickup truck before hitting a 2011 Mazda head-on, deputies said.

Macrabie was the front-seat passenger in Snyder’s vehicle, both he and Darlow were airlifted to the hospital.
