Tompkins County Legislature announced Thursday that they will begin implementing a Strategic Operations Plan to help the 30 County departments work more effectively efficiently, with a community focus in mind.

Following a year of community engagement efforts and planning, the legislature officially adopted the plan during their June 18th meeting. The plan sets 46 individual objectives, ranging from organizational excellence and equitable service delivery to economic opportunity and quality of life. Health and safety and climate change resiliency are also included in the plan.

Each goal area includes measures to help boost performance and identify action-steps to help the implementation-phase go smoothly and efficiently. The plan updates the county’s values and reaffirms its devotion to being equitable, diverse, and inclusive.

The plan was shaped by survey responses taken from hundreds of community members and employees, as well as interviews with community members where they gave the County new ideas to implement. This process is being supported by a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), and the funds were granted to support New York and ARC’s goals of building community support and generating positive economic impacts.
