In Tompkins County, the Legislature met on Tuesday night and passed legislation that urged Congress to enact an Assault Weapons Ban.
Other items of note:
- The legislature authorized a naloxone distribution and training program at county facilities to fight opioid abuse
- A June 9 gun buyback program was approved
- Approved $732,000 in additional spending at the new Tompkins Cortland Community College Child Care Center. The money comes from state grants, donations and SUNY and there is no additional commitment from the Cortland and Tompkins County sponsors.
